We left Little Rock at noon yesterday and arrived safely in Cincinnati at around 10:30 p.m. EST. Only two bumps in the radar. Traffic seems about shut down on I-40 between Biscoe and Wheatlly. We took Old 70 and encountered a ten-mile stretch of trucks inching in the westward direction. After that it was smooth sailing.
The other bump lasted nearly three hours. Perry’s beloved St. Louis Cardinals lost to the Cincinnati Reds. Bummer, at least for him. Reminded me of the old days of the Cotton States League, a Cardinals farm club of the 1950s that comprised teams from Pine Bluff, Hot Springs, Natchez, Meridian, El Dorado, Monroe, Greenwood, Greenville, and maybe some that I forget. We hardly missed a home game for several years and traveled to many a Sunday game. Great fun.
Rose Pfirrman is up ready to cook the goetta for breakfast. Then we’ll ramble. Reds game tonight. Friends are good.
